Lapid: Netanyahu trying to pin blame for harm to military readiness on IDF, officers

Opposition Leader Yair Lapid hits out at Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after the latter met with top security officials to discuss military readiness, accusing the premier of trying to shirk responsibility for any harm to the IDF’s capabilities.
Noting a statement put out by Netanyahu’s office saying the prime minister ordered military “fitness and cohesion” be maintained, Lapid accuses him of “a shameful and cowardly attempt to escape from responsibility and put the blame on the army and its commanders.”
“The harm to IDF fitness is the direct result of one thing: the destructive [judicial overhaul] that the Netanyahu government is leading,” Lapid writes on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.
