Liberman says business as usual on Golan Heights
Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman says it’s business as usual in Israel’s Golan Heights, despite the recent spate of spillover fire from the Syrian civil war.
At the weekly Yisrael Beytenu faction meeting, Liberman says he toured the Israel-Syrian border this morning, and reports that farmers are still plowing their fields, tourists are braving the heatwave and “the citizens are continuing in their routines, in peace and security.”
He adds Israel is “not looking for excuses” to get involved in the conflict across the border, and said “we will be very, very angry if they disturb this peace and security.”
