Man suspected of fatally shooting and stabbing adopted son

A resident of Maccabim in central Israel is suspected of stabbing and shooting his adopted son dead during a fight.

The 23-year-old was killed a month ago. He suffered from fetal alcohol syndrome, had a history of criminal behavior, and had previously stayed at a hostel for troubled individuals.

The suspect claimed that during a fight over a potential return to the hostel, the adopted son tried to stab him, and he acted in self-defense.

Prosecutors doubt this claim, as the victim had eight gunshot wounds to the head, chest and back, and stab wounds to his heart.

The suspect is expected to face murder charges.
