Germany is committed to Israel’s security, says German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, adding that it is “coordinating closely” with the United States, Israel and partners in the region.
“We remain committed to peace and security in the region and to Israel’s security,” he writes on X.
“Germany calls on Iran to cease military strikes against Israel and other partners in the region,” says Merz. “The leadership in Tehran must end the violence against its own people and return to a negotiated solution.”
Merz says Germany has not participated in the strikes against Iranian targets.
