Minister urging prison service to prevent security inmates from watching World Cup

Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan urges the Israel Prisons Service to prevent security prisoners from watching the World Cup, which begins next month.

“I have no intention of allowing Hamas terrorists to watch the World Cup while the bodies of our soldiers are held in Gaza together with our kidnapped citizens,” Erdan says at a special Knesset hearing.

Currently, there is no legal option available that would allow prisons to block certain channels. Erdan has asked government officials to look into the possibility of changing existing regulations that would allow prison service to ban the viewing of the soccer tournament.
