MKs praise Dylan for Nobel win

MK and head of the Meretz Party Zehava Galon responds to Bob Dylan’s Nobel win by writing on Facebook: “It’s not every day a Nobel prize is a good opportunity to put on a beloved song.”

לא תמיד פרס נובל הוא כזו הזדמנות טובה לשים שיר אהוב.

Erel Margalit, meanwhile, praises Dylan for “changing the lives of a whole generation, who managed to move people to action, and who turned into a symbol for the desire and demand for a better world, with values, between people.”

“He is woven into the lives of so many people and into my life, personally,” he adds, attaching a link to a YouTube video of “Blowin’ in the Wind.”

Unmentioned by the two liberal lawmakers is Dylan’s incongruous support for extremist rabbi Meir Kahane in the 1970s and his song “Neighborhood Bully,” seen as a piece of pro-Israel hasbara and a favorite of Israeli right-wingers.
