Netanyahu says upcoming year will be a time of struggle to destroy Iranian axis

Israel will eliminate Hamas, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pledges at a toast ahead of the Rosh Hashanah holiday with Israel’s military leadership.

“We are in a struggle in which we are prevailing over our enemies, and we must destroy the Iranian axis — and we have the power to do that. This is what lies ahead of us in the coming year, which could be a historic year for Israel’s security,” says Netanyahu, meeting the IDF General Staff Forum alongside IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen Eyal Zamir and Defense Minister Israel Katz.

“I want to repeat that we are determined to achieve all our war objectives; not only in Gaza, not only to complete the elimination of Hamas, to free our hostages, and to ensure Gaza will no longer pose a threat to Israel, but also on other fronts — to open opportunities for security, for victory, and also for peace.”

“This requires two fundamental qualities: unity in moments of trial, and resolve at all times,” Netanyahu tells the forum. “So may this be a year of security, victory, and unity. Shana Tova.”
