Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s defense attorney compares the premier’s corruption trial to Israel’s prosecution of notorious Nazi war criminal Adolf Eichmann.

During a hearing in the Jerusalem District Court this morning about holding hearings in the long-running trial five days a week, attorney Amit Hadad suggests the judges are treating Netanyahu in a manner similar to Eichmann, the key architect of the Holocaust who was captured by the Mossad in Argentina in 1960, put on trial in Israel, convicted and executed.

Arguing against the court’s decision to hold Netanyahu’s corruption trial five days each week beginning in October, Hadad insists that “no trial has ever been conducted five days in a week, only the Eichmann trial.”

“I told the prime minister, we are facing dire straits, I have no way to provide proper defense,” he says, as quoted by the Ynet news outlet.

Hadad claims the schedule leaves no time for holidays, family or Netanyahu’s personal life, saying that “it’s impossible to conduct a trial this way.”

The Eichmann trial is the most famous court proceeding in Israel’s history, and the only time Israel has carried out the death penalty thus far.
