Israelis catch a glimpse of a partial solar eclipse this afternoon, as the rare celestial spectacle make its way east across a swathe of the Northern Hemisphere.

At its peak over Israel, the eclipse obscured close to half the sun.

The partial eclipse began earlier today over Iceland and will end later off the coast of India, crossing parts of Europe, North Africa and the Middle East on its way, according to the IMCCE institute of France’s Paris Observatory.
