Police investigating after mourner’s wreath sent to family of hostage Liri Albag, who is believed to be alive
The police have opened an investigation after a wreath of flowers, usually laid at graves, was left outside the home of Liri Albag’s family.
Attached to the wreath was a note reading “May her memory be a blessing, we all know that the country is more important.”
Albag, 19, was taken hostage on October 7 and remains in Gaza with some 130 other hostages. She is believed to be alive, and former hostages released in the weeklong November truce said they had seen her and that she had been forced to go between various Gazan families’ homes to cook and clean for them.
Speaking to the Walla news outlet, Liri’s sister Roni Albag says the family doesn’t know who sent the wreath, and upon its discovery, it was taken to the police station by a local security officer to prevent the family from seeing it.
“How are there people in the world who dare to send a mourning wreath to our family, when we know she is alive,” Roni says. “I have no words, it’s horrifying and makes me sick.”
