A demonstrator stabbed a cop at a protest in Tel Aviv against law enforcement’s handling of a probe into a deadly hit-and-run, according to police.
A statement from the force says the officer was taken to a hospital for medical treatment, without specifying his condition.
Police are searching for the suspect after he fled the scene.
The incident came as police declare the demonstration a riot, saying some protesters acted violently toward officers and ran on the Ayalon Highway — blocking traffic in both directions.
The coastal city’s Jabotinsky and Arlozorov streets are also blocked.
