Police commissioner Kobi Shabtai orders law enforcement to begin a nationwide operation against Palestinians who illegally enter Israel from the West Bank, and those who assist them.

Thousands of Palestinians illegally enter Israel every day for work through the many holes in the West Bank security barrier. The Israeli military has ramped up defensive operations along the border in recent weeks following a string of attacks.

The two Palestinian terrorists who killed three and severely wounded several others in Elad last night illegally entered Israel and were transported by one of the victims, Oren Ben Yiftah, security officials say.

Police occasionally arrest illegal Palestinians in Israel. Earlier today, six illegal workers were arrested, along with an Israeli driver near the northern city of Tiberias.
