Report: Netanyahu unlikely to make trip to US next week after all

The Ynet news site reports that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is unlikely to make the trip to Washington next week.

The news site cites an unnamed source who says plans may change but that a trip to the US looks unlikely at the moment. Accordingly, preparations for Netanyahu’s plane to depart next week have been put on hold.

US President Donald Trump said earlier today that he’d meet with Netanyahu if he came to Washington next week for the funeral of late Republican senator Lindsey Graham.

Netanyahu had been slated to travel to the US earlier this month, but reportedly couldn’t secure a meeting with Trump.

It’s unclear whether the latest development has to do with White House mistrust of Netanyahu or with the premier’s desire to remain in Israel in the event of a major escalation with Iran.
