A senior official from Saudi Arabia says Riyadh played a major role in drafting the Trump administration’s Mideast peace plan, Channel 13 news reports.
According to the report, Deputy Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir told a Western diplomat several weeks ago that many of Saudi Arabia’s demands were included in long-awaited proposal.
“We, the Saudis, were able to influence the content of the Trump proposal considerably, and so we are not worried about it,” Jubeir is quoted as saying in the report.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump’s senior Middle East adviser, Jared Kushner, said the administration’s peace plan will focus on the “redrawing of boundaries and resolving final status issues.”
Saudi Arabia’s King Salman told the Arab League yesterday that an independent Palestinian state was a top priority for his government.
