Saudi Arabia, Qatar welcome Palestinian state recognitions
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleSaudi Arabia and Qatar both issue statements welcoming the decision by the UK, Canada, Australia, and Portugal to recognize a Palestinian state.
Saudi Arabia says recognition underscores the Western states’ commitment to a peace process, and calls on more countries to do the same.
The kingdom, together with France, will lead a summit on the two state solution today in New York, as world leaders gather for the UN General Assembly.
Qatar says the Western countries’ statehood recognitions have supported efforts to achieve a lasting peace in the region.
