Schools to dedicate time to discussing youth violence prevention

Schools across Israel will dedicate instructional time this Tuesday to the subject of youth violence prevention at the direction of Education Minister Yoav Kisch, following several lethal stabbings involving minors.

Kisch is expected to tour high schools and meet with students and teachers over the course of the day.

The Education Ministry is coordinating the initiative with local government, meaning mayors and local council heads have also been invited to visit schools in their area to send a strong message against violence, according to the Walla news outlet.

Last week, two young men were stabbed to death in separate homicides in Petah Tikva and Beersheba. In both incidents, gangs of minors are the suspected perpetrators.

Kisch issues the decision after meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir today, during which the premier urged both ministers to step up their ministries’ activities to combat burgeoning violence.
