Thousands of police in Jerusalem for Jewish, Muslim holidays

Israel Police says that thousands of officers would be deployed in Jerusalem ahead of the Yom Kippur and Eid al-Adha holidays after days of clashes rocked the Temple Mount last week, during the Jewish new year holiday.

Beginning on Monday night, traffic will be restricted around the Old City and checkpoints will be set up.

Yom Kippur begins Tuesday night and lasts until Wednesday evening, while the Muslim Eid al-Adha holiday begins Wednesday and continues until Sunday.

Thousands of Jews are expected to visit the Western Wall below the Temple Mount. The Mount is the location of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.
