Two Mexicans, a man and a woman, are believed to be held hostage by Hamas in Gaza, Mexico’s Foreign Minister Alicia Bárcena says.

She does not name them and gives no details about whether they are residents in Israel or were visiting the area.

On a message on X, formerly known as Twitter, Bárcena says the Mexican government is in contact with their relatives and the Israeli authorities.

Mexico’s Foreign Affairs Ministry has condemned the attacks against the Israeli people.
