From Two National Guard troops shot, ‘critically wounded’ near White House

Two National Guardsmen were shot and “critically wounded” in downtown Washington, just blocks from the White House, ABC News reports.
The Metropolitan Police Department says it is on the scene and urges the public to avoid the area while authorities work to secure it.
A DC police official tells ABC that the incident occurred at 2:20 p.m. ET near the Farragut West Metro station and confirmed that the suspect is “down.”
According to additional reports, the White House was briefly placed under lockdown following the incident. President Donald Trump, who is vacationing in Florida ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday, has reportedly been briefed on the situation.
