UK allocates millions for Jewish community security

The British government is providing £13.4 million (approx. $19 million) for security in the Jewish community in the coming year, the Jewish Chronicle says.

British Home Secretary Theresa May says the money will be used to fund security guards and other protection measures at Jewish schools, nurseries, synagogues and other locations in the Jewish community.

The money will be managed by the Community Security Trust, a charity that works for the safety of the British Jews.

CST chief executive David Delew says the financial commitment is “deeply appreciated,” according to the Chronicle.

“We wish that it were not necessary, but the current situation dictates otherwise,” Delew says.
