UK says ‘grave concern’ over Palestinian hunger-striker
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleThe United Kingdom expresses “grave concern” over the deteriorating medical condition of Palestinian hunger-striker Hisham Abu Hawash, who is in critical condition after refusing to eat for 141 days in protest of his detention by Israel.
“According to international law, administrative detention should only be used when security makes this absolutely necessary. Israel must comply with its obligations under international law and either charge or release detainees,” the UK’s envoy to the Palestinians says.
