Volunteers with the World Central Kitchen are preparing food for the freed hostages and their families at hospitals in Tel Aviv, as their teams continue to make meals for Gazans.
“Today in Tel Aviv, WCK and our local partner Wix served dinner to released hostages and their loved ones when they were finally able to reunite after two years,” the organization says, referring to the tech company.
“We also delivered comforting meals to families of hostages at local hospitals that are staying with their relatives as they begin to recover,” the organization says on Facebook.
In Gaza, the organization will “keep increasing the number of hot meals… plus hundreds of thousands of pita bread plus water… every day teams will work harder and more organized opening new kitchens and increasing output in the ones already open!” the organization’s founder, chef José Andrés, says on X.
The WCK, which operates in crisis areas worldwide, has been active in both Israel and Gaza since the October 7, 2023, Hamas assault, which triggered the war.
It briefly suspended operations in Gaza for a month last year, when the IDF struck a WCK convoy by mistake, killing seven aid workers.
Help us report truthfully on social media
As a multimedia journalist, my job is to take the quality, fact-based journalism produced by The Times of Israel newsroom and make it accessible across every platform — from Instagram posts to podcasts to short-form videos.
This is how many, especially young people, consume news these days. But misinformation is rampant on social media. Our team at ToI produces accurate, responsible short-form reporting on Israel and the Jewish world.
If you believe in the importance of factual social media journalism, please consider joining our reader support group, The Times of Israel Community. Your financial support is essential to sustain responsible multimedia reporting.
