White House says no one surprised by Obama’s assessment on peace deal
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleJosh Earnest says neither Israeli officials nor anyone in the Obama administration was surprised by the assessment that there would be no Israeli-Palestinian peace deal before the president leaves office.
He says there is a “pretty stark divide” right now between Israelis and Palestinians that needs to be bridged.
The White House spokesman dodges a question about whether the US would condition defense aid on settlement construction, and stresses that the US is committed to Israel’s security.
