World on catastrophic 2.5°C warming pathway this century, UN warns

National commitments to slash heat-trapping pollution would limit global warming up to 2.5°C this century — nowhere near enough to avoid devastating climate impacts, the UN warns.
The world’s collective commitments to tackle climate change, if enacted in full, would result in 2.3°C to 2.5°C of warming by 2100, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) says in its annual Emissions Gap report.
