Ali Muhammad Elyan, a young Palestinian from the West Bank town of Baqa al-Sharqiya, north of Tulkarem, dies from a missile launched from the Gaza Strip that struck the village.

It is not clear whether Elyan was killed from a direct hit. Palestinian reports indicate that he died from the shrapnel falling from an Iron Dome interception, possibly in an attempt to deny that he was struck by a Palestinian projectile.

The town, whose name means “eastern Baqa,” is located next to the Green Line separating the West Bank from Israel. The Western part of Baqa, known as Baqa al-Gharbiya, lies within Israel.
