Two people were found murdered at a homeless shelter and drug rehabilitation center in the northern city of Netanya on Thursday, police said in a statement.

Police said they arrested one man on suspicion of murder. Hebrew media reported that he had been a resident in the center for the past year. There were no other details on his identity.

Police were called to the shelter on Tehila Street to respond to the stabbing of an employee. He was declared dead shortly afterwards by Magen David Adom ambulance crew members who arrived at the scene.

When police searched the area, they found another body nearby, which Ynet news reported was wrapped in a sheet and was already decaying. According to the report the second body was of someone who had been staying in the shelter.

Walla news reported that the second body belonged to someone who shared a room with the murder suspect. The report said that an initial investigation found that the suspect killed his roommate during the night, and when the worker came looking for him in the early afternoon, the suspect murdered him too.
