Senior security official reports ‘record Iranian motivation’ to carry out terror attacks abroad

Veterans of Israel’s security services “don’t recall efforts on this scale” by the Iranians to carry out terrorist attacks abroad, says a senior National Security Council official.

“We’re seeing record Iranian motivation to achieve immediate results — anywhere, by any means, without restraints or barriers,” he says of attempts to strike Jewish and Israeli sites.

Ahead of the Passover holiday next week, the NSC today renewed its call for Israelis traveling abroad to exercise caution due to the increased threat of Iran-backed terror attacks.

“We expect attempts to carry out attacks wherever possible at concentrations of Jews worldwide and against Israelis,” says the official. “Therefore, our message is very clear — we call on Israelis to avoid going to unsecured places, and also to open venues — any place that cannot be tightly secured or hermetically controlled. Simply avoid attending public Seder events there.”

The official says that Israel’s security bodies are investigating, along with foreign partners, who stands behind recent attacks on synagogues and Jewish targets. “It wouldn’t be surprising if we find, after the investigative process, that Iranian efforts are really behind this.”
