A 19-year-old resident of East Jerusalem drowned off the coast of Ashdod on Saturday, and was pronounced dead a short while later by medics called to the scene.

“When we arrived, we saw the lifeguards performing CPR on a 19-year-old man who was unconscious after being pulled from the water, Magen David Adom paramedic Maxim Nizri told Channel 10 news.

“We joined them and carried out advanced CPR that included medication, respiration and massages,” he said. “Unfortunately… we had to pronounce his death.”

Police were investigating the details surrounding the man’s death, the Walla news site reported.
