Teenager fails to board plane, security footage shows her walking out of airport toward bus stop

Audrey Hanna Askin was last seen at the Long Beach Airport on Monday at about 1:30 p.m., according to the Long Beach Post. She checked her luggage, but never boarded the plane she was scheduled to take to Utah, where she attends boarding school.
Security camera footage showed Askin walking out of the airport toward nearby bus stops. Her family said she had been upset.
“She is a young woman who lives with a high degree of anxiety, so she could have had anxiety about going back to school, even though she likes her school quite a lot,” her father, Steve Askin, told the Long Beach Post. He added that she has disappeared for 30 minutes to an hour before, but has “never disappeared like this.”
Temple Israel Long Beach, a Reform congregation where Askin’s father and mother, Catherine Hanna, are members, sent out an email Tuesday saying that the family is requesting that the girl’s photo be circulated on social media in hopes of locating her.
The Long Beach Police Department said in a statement that Audrey has attempted suicide in the past via a drug overdose.
Audrey is 5’5″ and weighs about 145 pounds. She was last seen in an off-white hoodie sweatshirt and black sweatpants (possibly shorts) rolled up to her knees. Her nails were painted red, and she was carrying a large dark brown purse.
