Man sets himself on fire in Tel Aviv

A man suffering from severe burns across his entire body was rushed to the Sheba Medical Center in Tel Hashomer after he apparently set himself on fire on Israel Misalant street in Tel Aviv late Saturday.

Police suspected that the man, 55, had attempted suicide due to financial hardships, but added that the investigation was still underway.

The man did not leave a suicide note before setting himself ablaze, Channel 10 news reported.

Last month, a 65-year-old man set himself on fire near a mall in Netanya. He suffered burns on 70% of his body, according to media reports.

Last July, on the first year anniversary of the social justice movement, Moshe Silman set himself ablaze, leaving behind a note that said the state had “robbed me of everything and left me with nothing.” He later died of his injuries.
