A rocket fired from the Gaza Strip on Wednesday night landed in an open area near the southern Israeli city of Sderot, where warning sirens sent residents running to shelter.

There were no injuries or damages reported.

Earlier in the day, sirens wailed in the Shaar Hanegev regional council and a rocket hit was identified on the Gazan side of the border fence, in an open area.

According to the IDF, Palestinians have fired over 35 rockets into southern Israel since the start of 2014.
