A young Arab man was stabbed overnight in Jerusalem after being accused of theft.

Some early reports indicated that the 20-year-old victim had broken into a home and was stabbed by its inhabitants. Other reports said the Arab man had been chased to the corner of Shmuel Hanavi and Yehezkel streets, after being accused of stealing by his attackers, who fled.

The young man suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem by Magen David Adom.

Police have opened an investigation into the incident and were combing the area for the perpetrators. Authorities don’t believe the attack had a nationalist element.
