A 9-year-old boy who fled the Russian invasion of Ukraine was killed Wednesday after being struck by a concrete mixer truck while walking in Jerusalem, according to police.
The incident occurred at an intersection in the capital’s Romema neighborhood.
Police said they opened an investigation into the cause of the deadly crash.
Magen David Adom medics said the boy was found trapped under the truck with massive injuries and without any signs of life.
Medics declared him dead at the scene.

The boy was later identified as Yoel Dovid Lenau, whose parents are emissaries with the Chabad Hasidic group in Ukraine, but fled to Israel following the Russian invasion.
The funeral is due to be held in Jerusalem.
