El Al boogies in new safety video

Carrier’s low-cost airline releases clip in bid to lure customers

Flying just got more fun.

Maybe.

El Al, Israel’s national carrier, has released a new safety video to promote its low-fare UP brand that features disco bell bottoms, comical dance moves and a five-piece band.

The clip, modeled after Virgin airlines’s viral hit, delivers all of the standard information found in most safety videos, just in music video fashion.

For the fledgling brand, started only last November, it was an obvious marketing maneuver.

UP allows customers to choose what features they would like during their flight, some of which are available for additional cost.

While the Hebrew version manages to maintain a simple rhyme scheme, UP may want to consider sending its English-language video back to the studio for edits.
