Israeli customs intercepted a number of rings stamped with IS logos and iconography two weeks ago, reportedly in a Turkish shipment bound for Ramallah, the Israel Tax Authority announced Tuesday.
The rings were found among several hundred other pieces of jewelry, according to a report by the NRG news site.
“The rings are considered banned propaganda and are therefore prohibited for import. They are banned, have been transferred for destruction and information passed on to the relevant security forces.”
“Anything that is destined for the Palestinian Authority goes for a security check,” a source in the tax office told the Ynet news outlet.
Such a large shipment of IS paraphernalia should be cause for alarm, according to one security inspector with the customs office.

IS rings discovered by customs at Ben Gurion International Airport (Israel Tax Authority)
“A large number of rings tells us that there are buyers for this. It is frightening and terrifying to know that in the territories of the Palestinian Authority, there are supporters of this murderous organization and, who knows, maybe with our help they will discover a cell or ideological organizing by IS,” the tax official said.
