The Israel Museum appointed a new director, Ido Bruno, 54, a professor of design at Jerusalem’s Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, after an 18-month search for a successor to James Snyder.

According to the museum, Bruno was chosen by the board of directors in a unanimous vote.

Bruno will be replacing Ayelet Shilo-Tamir, who has served as interim director for the last six months. Shilo-Tamir took the position from Eran Neuman, who backed out only weeks after being appointed to the post in January 2017.

Bruno has taught industrial design at Bezalel for 25 years, and has curated dozens of exhibits, including the 2013 “Herod the Great” exhibit at the Israel Museum.
