An Israeli man died on an El Al flight from Tel Aviv to Bangkok on Monday.
During the journey of the LY81 flight, the 59-year-old told staff he was unwell, and was allowed to sit in business class where he was provided with oxygen and water, according to Hebrew media.
The man later collapsed in the plane’s bathroom.
A volunteer for the ZAKA emergency service, a doctor and a medic who all happened to be on the flight performed CPR but eventually pronounced him dead, according to a ZAKA statement.
The ZAKA volunteer said the incident was “traumatic” for passengers. One of the travelers said they felt “in good hands” because the volunteer was on board the plane, according to the emergency service.

The body was laid out across two plane seats for the remainder of the journey, and ZAKA said they were working to return the man to Israel.
