Abbas: Peace is a strategic goal for Palestinians

Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas says that peace is a strategic goal of the Palestinians and they are committed to a two-state solution, Channel 2 reports

Abbas is speaking in the West Bank town of Bethlehem where he is meeting visiting Italian President Sergio Mattarella.

Abbas also reportedly says he is willing to make peace with Israel.

The peace process between Israel and the Palestinians has been dormant since the collapse of a US-led initiative in April 2014.
