Army says it shot at Palestinians throwing rocks at cars
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleThe Israeli army now says it entered the Palestinian town of Tuqua to stop protesters from stoning Israeli cars that pass through the village to get to the adjacent Jewish settlement of Tekoa.
The army says about 20 people were involved in the riot, and live fire was used only when other methods proved ineffective.
“When IDF forces were unable to disperse the crowd using non-lethal means, they fired 0.22 Ruger rounds at the protesters, injuring at least one,” the army tells The Times of Israel.
Palestinian media reported the clash began when Israel Defense Forces soldiers raided the town, in the West Bank south of Jerusalem. According to Ma’an, two people were shot in the leg.
