From Ben Gvir visits Tel Sheva, quarrels with residents, after deadly shooting
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleFollowing a deadly shooting in Tel Sheva this morning, National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir arrives in the southern Bedouin town flanked by police forces.
He is seen entering the village via its main road, alongside police patrol vehicles and ATVs, then begins to quarrel with residents in the area.
The minister has been visiting southern Bedouin towns in recent days after announcing a new operation to fight violent crime in the Negev.
The visits have aggravated residents, who view the operation and provocative tours in Bedouin towns as a bid to win over voters in southern Jewish locales in the next election.
One resident is filmed accusing Ben Gvir of “playing on Bedouins’ backs” to secure votes, as the minister quarrels with him through the rolled-down window of his car.

“I am playing on the back of whoever breaks the law,” Ben Gvir retorts, adding, “Whoever breaks the law, I will get on his back.”
Meanwhile, the Tel Sheva local council declares a strike after the murder of 40-year-old Bilal Atwa al-Asim, who was shot outside a gas station in the town.
Officers arrested three suspects in the shooting, which took place due to a fight between children from rival families currently embroiled in a blood feud.
All government services are currently shut down, save for schools, says Rafet Srihan, a member of the town’s local council.
