Bus driver who killed Haredi teen remanded into custody for 9 days by court

The bus driver who ran over a Haredi protester last night has been remanded into custody for nine days on suspicion of reckless homicide, following a ruling from the Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court.

Police brought the driver before a judge this morning after arresting him for fatally running over 14-year-old Yosef Eisenthal during an anti-draft protest last night.

Police requested to keep the driver in custody for another 15 days, but were only granted nine.

The police representative in court initially attributed the suspicion of aggravated murder to the driver, but later downgraded the suspected offenses to negligent homicide, causing severe injury to a minor, and reckless driving, the Ynet news site reports.
