Call for mourners to attend lone soldier’s funeral
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleAfter posts on Facebook and word of mouth succeeded in bringing 20,000 mourners to the funeral of lone soldier Nissim Sean Carmeli, concerned Israelis are trying to ensure that fellow lone soldier Max Steinberg of Beersheba will have large crowds at his funeral as well.
Steinberg does not have family living in Israel.
The funeral will take place at the Har Herzl military cemetery in Jerusalem Wednesday at 11 a.m.
Steinberg, 24, was a US citizen who was volunteering for service in the IDF. He was killed early Sunday morning when his APC was struck by a Hamas anti-tank rocket.
A Facebook event page for the funeral has 609 guests who responded that they were planning to attend.
