Clinton says IS must be defeated, not contained
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleClinton says the goal must be to defeat the Islamic State, not merely to contain it.
“There is no alternative to American leadership,” Clinton says, but the whole world must be involved in the fight against the Islamic State.
She urges getting more Arab and Kurdish fighters on the ground involved in the combat.
“We will do our part, but it’s their fight too, and they need to act like it is.”
Clinton also calls for a diplomatic solution in Syria. She says the US must do more to help Lebanon and Jordan in dealing with the refugee influx.
