Deri, Edelstein were informed of Iran strikes ahead of time

Shas chairman Aryeh Deri and Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee chairman Yuli Edelstein were informed of this weekend’s strikes on Iran ahead of time, Channel 12 journalist Amit Segal reports.
According to Segal, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “signed a written order to advance the plan” to strike Iran shortly after US President Donald Trump’s election in November 2024, leading to months of talks to secure Washington’s permission to go ahead with the attack.
“The heads of the ultra-Orthodox parties, with the exception of Deri, knew nothing about the attack while they threatened to dissolve the government,” Segal tweets, adding that Edelstein “also knew about what was brewing, and this helped bring about a compromise, knowing what was going to happen within a day.”
Asked by The Times of Israel, the spokesman for Edelstein confirms the report.
