Dozens of relatives of missing persons stream to police center to aid identification

Dozens of relatives of people who have gone missing in Saturday’s unprecedented assault by Hamas on Israeli communities, and are feared dead or abducted, have been streaming to a center for missing persons operated by the police and the Home Front Command near the airport.

Ynet reports that relatives have brought items like toothbrushes and other personal belongings of their missing loved ones to help provide DNA samples that could help ID them.

Police had called for families to contact the center with photos and DNA samples of missing persons. Those who are located in areas where they are not able to leave their homes were asked to call 105 with details and to go to a police station when possible.

Many of them have lost contact with their loved ones since the surprise, multi-front attack on Israel started this morning after dawn.

One father of a woman who has gone missing tells Ynet: “There is nothing more to do, wait for a miracle from God.”

An unknown number of people, including soldiers and civilians, young and old, were abducted by Hamas terrorists and taken into the Gaza Strip.

At least 300 people have been killed in the attacks as terrorists infiltrated at least 22 communities and gunned people down in the streets, in their vehicles, and in their homes, and took hostages.
