Dylan Nobel win invites ignoble ire

Not everyone is happy with the Bob Dylan Nobel win.

Scottish novelist Irvine Welsh, a self-professed Dylan fan, goes on a Twitter rant, calling the prize “an ill conceived nostalgia award wrenched from the rancid prostates of senile, gibbering hippies.”

The “Trainspotting” author continues: “If you’re a ‘music’ fan, look it up in the dictionary. Then ‘literature’. Then compare and contrast.”

He also begs to know if writer Don De Lillo had been inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll hall of fame yet.

Novelist Hari Kunzru also joins in the Dylan bashing.

Chilean President Michelle Bachelet, though, congratulates Dylan on being awarded the prize in literature.

“What a joy that Bob Dylan got the Nobel for literature. Many fond memories from my adolescence are associated with his music,” she tweets.
