The Palestinian technocratic committee tasked with replacing Hamas in governing Gaza says it has just wrapped up a two-day urban development workshop aimed at “translating broad commitments on temporary housing into a practical delivery plan for displaced families in the Gaza Strip.”
The workshop of the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG) was held in partnership with the Board of Peace’s Gaza envoy Nickolay Mladenov and Board of Peace Executive Board member Tony Blair’s Institute for Global Change.
“Discussions covered planning standards, site conditions, rubble clearance, post-construction site management and governance, culminating in an agreed action plan with defined outputs — a concrete step within the wider Gaza Recovery Program toward a safe, dignified future for all,” the NCAG says in a statement.
The NCAG moved a major step closer to finally entering Gaza following a month-long delay after Hamas accepted the Board of Peace’s disarmament proposal last week. But progress on the plan has stalled amid Israeli opposition to it.
