German man to face attempted homicide charges for driving his car into crowd

FRANKFURT, Germany — German prosecutors say the man who drove his car into a crowd of carnival revelers in the town of Volkmarsen today is a 29-year-old German who now faces charges of attempted homicide.

The investigation is continuing “in all directions,” Frankfurt prosecutors say in a statement, after police stopped short of calling the incident an attack.

The rampage injured some 30 people including children, the prosecutors adds.
