Hapoel Jerusalem pays tribute to fallen soldier
Israeli basketball team Hapoel Jerusalem pays tribute to fallen IDF soldier First Sergeant Liel Gidoni, a 20-year-old native of the capital who was killed in clashes with Hamas terrorists near Rafah this morning.
“The Hapoel Jerusalem basketball club bows its head in memory of team supporter Liel Gidoni, who fell this morning while fighting in the Gaza Strip,” reads a statement posted by the club on its Facebook page.

The statement adds that Gidoni will be laid to rest at Jerusalem’s Har Herzl military cemetery at 5 p.m. on Sunday.
Gidoni was killed along with one other soldier in clashes between Givati Brigade troops and Hamas terrorists, including gunmen and possibly a suicide bomber. A third soldier, 2nd-Lt. Hadar Goldin, was reportedly captured in the attack.
