Seven people have been hospitalized after a drone impacted Route 4 near the town of Mazra’a in the Western Galilee.

One of the wounded, who arrived with shrapnel injuries, is in critical condition and is being treated at Galilee Medical Center, a hospital spokesperson says. Two of them were not hit and were being treated for acute anxiety attacks.

Eyewitness Maor Amsallem tells The Times of Israel that he was driving north when he heard the sirens. He pulled over to the side of the road and saw the drone about 7 meters (23 feet) above him explode and hit a car driving south.

“Glass shattered,” Amsallem says. “I heard endless screams. I saw people wounded. I never saw anything like that. I’m still shaking.”

“After the explosion, drivers got into accidents as they panicked,” says Khader Shakair of Netivei Israel’s Operations and Maintenance Division, who arrived soon after the explosion.
